From October 2, 2023, to December 4, 2023, we are excited to announce the commencement of Study in Canada Essay Contest open to all international students, aged between 16 and 19, residing in non-English speaking countries. This contest offers a platform for sharing your insights and aspirations regarding educational and career goals.
In today's world, young individuals require specific knowledge and skills in education and career planning to navigate life's choices successfully. The objective of this essay contest is to provide a valuable opportunity for young minds to challenge themselves, express their creativity and talents, and cultivate analytical and critical thinking abilities.
We firmly believe that through this contest, we can contribute to nurturing future open-minded leaders who will strive towards creating a better and safer world. Join us in this endeavor!
This year's topic is:
Do you want to study in Canada? Explain your choice of career and what qualifications, skills, and talents you feel you have for your chosen field.
By entering the Essay Contest, you agree to these terms and conditions and confirm that you are telling us your real name.
Contest Rules:
The Contest begins on October 2, 2023, and ends on December 4, 2023.
3 winners will be selected from all eligible entries.
The winners will be announced on December 24, 2023.
Selection Committee:
Essays will be kept anonymous and evaluated by a panel of judges from
Toronto Metropolitan University International College (TMUIC), www.torontomuic.ca
The judges will select 3 finalists.
Selection Criteria:
Each Essay will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Submitting an Essay:
- The essay title page and name of the participant writing the essay with
home mailing address, phone number and email address;
- The essay itself.
- The participant’s name should not appear any where on the essay pages.
E-mail Submission Example:

Attached: Your essay itself as a .doc or .pdf attachment only
Body of message: Copy and paste your title page information into the body of the e-mail.

The Winners can use the scholarship money to apply to the tuition at:
Toronto Metropolitan University International College (TMUIC), www.torontomuic.ca
Important: You are hereby obligated to adhere to the enrollment prerequisites set forth by Toronto Metropolitan University International College. Enrollment options are available for programs commencing in May 2024, September 2024, or January 2025.
All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation. Certificate of Participation will be sent by email. Please provide us with an active email address.

2022 – 2023 “Discover Canada” Essay Contest is closed.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your participation in our annual Essay Contest.
We received about 70 submissions from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia.
Each of you should be proud of the hard work and dedication you put into crafting your essay. You have demonstrated a commitment to learning and a passion for the topic at hand, and that is something to be celebrated.
Let's give a big round of applause to the three winners of this year's annual essay contest!

For your outstanding work you will each be granted a 3-week English Program in Canada.
This is just the beginning, and many such awards and distinction should follow.
We would like to note the essays of other students who also showed good results.
Unfortunately, you were not selected as the winner this time. And don’t worry, you’ll have another chance to win in our next contest in November 2023!

Our educational initiative Essay Contest “Discover Canada” aims at broadening the cultural horizons of participating international students by encouraging them to explore Canadian culture, history, education, politics, geography, and current affairs, as well as providing them an excellent learning opportunity to challenge themselves, showcase their creativity and talent, develop analytical and critical thinking skills.
Through this contest, young people will have a better understanding of the extraordinary natural beauty and cultural diversity of Canada.
